Playmat Reveal!!

This is a redundant update on our Kickstarter, in case you missed our email newsletter.

A few weeks ago we delivered our final art files for all of the Doomlings games, accessories, and merch!

We just received our samples of the Community Playmat and the Individual Playmats! Justus was so excited to share these with you that he made a 10 minute video showing them off!

As many of you have seen in our livestreams, the Community Playmat is to be placed in the center of the table for all players to use.

The original version of the playmat was taking up more table space than needed - so we made it a little more compact. This will fit nicely onto any table - a coffee table, card table, or heck maybe you even want to bring it on your camping trip!

There are designated spaces for the Discard pile, Traits pile, the Ages pile, and three separate spaces for the Eras! Every time you draw a Catastrophe card, you move on to the next Era - helping you keep track of the game! (Remember, the game ends after the third Catastrophe!)

Here's some of the important features:

• Stitched Edges
• 11" x 22" (28cm x 56cm)
• Vibrant Neoprene with anti-slip backing
• Extended nighttime "Age of Peace" artwork! 

We are so thrilled at our first look at our Individual Playermats! They are colorful and so, so vibrant!

The Individual Playermats are designed to sit in front of each individual player at the table to help organize their Trait pile, Gene Pool, and Dominant Traits.

Each mat features a 5 x 8 section grid that allows each player to organize their Trait piles as they see fit. There are also two spaces dedicated to each player's Dominant Traits, as well as a cross-section for your rotating Gene Pool card!

The Individual Playermats share a lot of the same features as the Community Playmat:

• Stitched Edges
• 11" x 22" (28cm x 56cm)
• Vibrant Neoprene with anti-slip backing
• Extended "Tropical Lands", "Age of Dracula", "Comet Showers", "Flourish", "Galactic Drift", and "Glacial Drift" artwork!

Our favorite part about the playmats is that each one expands upon the art of our Age and Catastrophe cards and allows players to experience more of the Doomlings Universe!

When you watch the video you may even see a sneak peek of a Doomling yet to come! (Shhhh!)

We've Been Busy!!

Dearest Doomlings Community,

There's a TON to fill you in on, so thank you in advance for bearing with this longer-than-usual update. We've had a lot going on behind the scenes to be excited about: first and foremost - let's take a look at the production timeline!

Justus has been working every day for the last three months perfecting the artwork!

Before our launch on Kickstarter, we sent out prototypes of Doomlings to 70 reviewers around the world to playtest, and we received a LOT of encouraging feedback. These suggestions ranged from ideas about various Doomlings, to the card layouts and rules clarifications. On top of that - the team also had a few items on our internal list of upgrades that we wanted to make.

(For instance every SWARM card has new, unique details. So now we truly have no duplicates!)

Did someone say "New Doomlings"?

That's right folks! There will be new never-before-seen Doomlings coming in the game! Some of this had to do with the fact that we had five Immortal Tier backers, who each collaborated with us to create a card for someone they loved. But also, Justus is just an ambitious fella, who decided to hit us with a few surprises!

Shhh! There will also be surprises awaiting in the holofoils!

We will be releasing some "Easter egg" holofoil cards, hidden within the randomly selected First Editions!  These are cards that deviate from the original design, and are randomly inserted into the mystery holofoils.

(For example, only a handful of Vampirism holos will have RED EYES. There will also be a few with BATS. And: a few Echolocation holos will feature a DOLPHIN!)

These "Easter Egg" holofoils are considered insanely rare, and we’ll have more on their exact rarities later!

We are Prepping for Print!!

While this sounds like it might be a simple task - prepping for the printing of the game is a meticulous process.

Effectively, every piece of art has to be copied piece by piece onto one MASSIVE Illustrator document, so that the factory can run entire sheets of 55 cards at a time! (The file is so big, that Justus had to buy a new computer!)

This process had to happen not only for the Doomlings game itself - but also for each and every add-on in our shop! While it's a ton of work, Justus is nearly done!

Let's Talk Logistics

We've been in the thick of building out our pipeline. In the video below, Eric gets into the nitty-gritty details of what goes into putting a game into market!

A Few Reminders:

• While the Pledge Manager for Kickstarter backers is closed - the Pre-Order store will remain open throughout the year to ensure the inventory we have will be sold off. This means we will have additional products available if you would like to add to your order! 
•  Kickstarter Exclusive items are limited to the run we’re doing this year, and will never be re-created again, once the order is sold. The Kickstarter Exclusive items will NOT go into retail stores when we transition to that model next year. (The only reason you will see KSE items in a local game store is if they pledged for the Kickstarter this year.)
• If you see Doomlings for pre-order online somewhere - these are local game stores that pledged for the Kickstarter with everyone else - they are not receiving Doomlings any sooner than you are, dear backer!

The Freight Industry and COVID-19

The freight industry and paper industry are being severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic - which is causing major delays and price increases. We are on top of it, but thought we’d share the following article: Container Rates Rocket Even Higher and There's No End In Sight and video. While this video describes a lot of situations that do not apply to Doomlings specifically, as Kickstarter backers ourselves, we thought the information was worthwhile to pass on as other publishers may be going through them.

The takeaway: we are not expecting any delays to your delivery, or price increases to your shipping. We will update you, though, if for some reason the situation changes.
