December Logistics Update (Part Two)

WHERE'S OUR CARGO?
Last week we announced that our first cargo container was in American waters. That is now where our second and third containers are, waiting in the looong queue at the LA port to be docked and unloaded. (The congestion and unprecedented delays in the global shipping industry have been widely covered in the news and in our previous videos.)
Our first container is fresh off the boat and has cleared customs! It is now in a locked part of the port waiting to be released into another part of the port, which is where our truckers will be able to pick it up and take it to our fulfillment center in New Jersey. From there it will be inspected for quality before being shipped out to you.
This is exciting news. However, because our products still need to travel across the country and go through that inspection process, it is unlikely that any games will be delivered in time for Christmas. There is always a chance this could change, and if it does, we will let you know. We are now estimating that the earliest shipments will go out will be the last week of December and into early January. (Backers and pre-order customers in the EU/UK should expect their deliveries in January.)
If you were hoping to gift Doomlings to a loved one, we do have Justus working on a holiday card that you will be able to give to your giftee as a temporary placeholder. We will have that available shortly. Stay tuned.

December Logistics Update (Part One) & Wallpapers!

Happy Holidays! December is here, which means menorah candles have been lit, tree lights have been strung, and Doomlings will soon be in homes all over the world. Eric gives an update on when that will be (roughly) and other logistical notes in the video below.
WHY DON’T I HAVE MY DOOMLINGS?
As you know, the unprecedented demand from consumers for goods during the COVID-19 pandemic has created a backlog in the global shipping industry. That coupled with the increased shopping activity that comes with the holiday season has resulted in a nightmare scenario at the ports. All companies in every sector of the economy are affected by it, including us.
WHERE ARE THE DOOMLINGS?
Our 1st cargo container is on 1 of 120 ships that are waiting patiently at the port to be unloaded. In fact, because of the congestion, it’s been in the queue for FIVE WEEKS! The good news here is our games are anchored in American waters and are expected to be unloaded within the next week! (No updates yet on the 2nd or 3rd containers.)
From there our container will be put onto a truck which will be driven around the clock until it reaches our fulfillment center in New Jersey. The fine folks over at Blackbox have been preparing for its arrival so that when it does come in, they’ll be able to ship orders out as quickly as possible.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY DOOMLINGS SHIP?
When your order is ready, you will receive THREE emails from Blackbox: one when your shipping label is printed, which will have your tracking number; one when your order ships and is in transit; and one when your order has been delivered. If there are any issues during fulfillment, you’ll be able to reach out to Blackbox directly to resolve those. (To be clear, NO orders have shipped yet.)
WILL I HAVE DOOMLINGS BY CHRISTMAS?
Even now, we are still hopeful for a Christmas delivery for a lot of folks, but there will be orders that won’t go out until the last week of December or early January. We will have more updates for you throughout the month on a weekly basis.
WALLPAPERS ARE HERE
One of the stretch goals we unlocked during the campaign was wallpaper art for your phone, tablet, and desktop. Justus has been busy creating artwork for all your favorite gadgets, which are now available for you! Simply click the buttons below to download!
Thank you for sticking with us and believing in our game. This is the hardest part of the journey for our team because up until now, we've had a lot of control over moving the ball forward and sticking with the timeline we laid out earlier this year. (Big thanks to our partners at AdMagic, Breaking Games and Blackbox for helping us stay on schedule during this crazy time.) If we had superpowers, we would end COVID and move these containers ourselves, because there is nothing more important to us right now than getting these games out to you as quickly as possible. THE HOLOFOIL REVEAL!!

HAPPY HOLODAYS!
Holo there! We are practically glowing here at Doomlings HQ because today we are finally unveiling our holofoil dominant traits.
The style of holofoil used on these cards is pretty uncommon! Typically, a holofoil will only foil in the background of an image, while the character, border and text are plain. But those are the details we wanted to pop out! So instead, we inverted the effect!
Our design request was a huge challenge for the plant. They’ve never dealt with this degree of intricacy before! But, they were able to push the boundaries on what they thought was possible! As a result, we are so proud of the shiny details of these cards.
Just like our favorite collectibles growing up, our holofoils have different levels of rarity: Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
Check out the updated chart below to see the probability of getting each card. Note that this chart only applies to the Limited First Edition Kickstarter run. Once we go to retail, the holo hierarchy may shift around a little bit.
Within each category, there are variant cards, where Justus decided to alter the artwork ever so slightly for a handful of prints. In the chart, traits with variants have an additional card (or two) peeking out from behind the main design.
There will also be a First Edition star on every card in this version of the game. In addition, the holofoil dominant traits will have special color-coded stars that denote their level of rarity. (See chart.)

It’s time to let the mat out of the bag! 😏
That’s right…it’s November, and we’ve still got reveals for ya. This latest one comes in the form of our playmat bag, which can store all 6 individual playmats, the community playmat, AND a copy of the game.

Artwork: based on the age card Galactic Drift (a design that is also featured on one of our individual playermats).
Material: a synthetic canvas, lightweight enough to retain the design, while durable enough to last for years of use.
Functionality: holds all 6 playermats, community playmat, AND your game box. Closes with a convenient drawstring.
Kickstarter Exclusive Cards Reveal
Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed something interesting in the factory footage we shared in September. Surprise! We decided to add the holofoil effect onto Beauty, Pride, Tube Feet, Bones and Juicy, 5 of our Kickstarter Exclusive trait cards.
The effect on these cards is ever so slightly different from the effect on the mystery holofoil dominant traits. (Speaking of, keep your eyes peeled for the next update!)
Don’t worry: every copy of the game will come with ALL 5 cards, and ALL 5 cards will have the holofoil effect.

Our Doomlings have set sail!

October is all about fright. In the world of Doomlings, it's also about freight. Which leads us to some pretty exciting news...2 of our 3 cargo containers are now en route to the US! That's right...the Doomlings have set sail!
The Doomlings have taken up painting self-portraits. Here’s to hoping they improve over their 6-week journey.
What does this mean in terms of when your game will arrive at your doorstep? To answer this, Eric put together another helpful video with an update on the logistical side of things.
December is so, so close. You can almost hear jingle bells under the sound of trick or treaters ringing doorbells. Here's an updated look at our timeline:
We are over the moon with how things are going. From the start it's been important to all of us here at Doomlings HQ that our supporters be able to play our game with their loved ones over the holidays. (After all, that's how and when this all started two Christmases ago between two brothers.) There are still several weeks between now and then, but at the same time, it is just around the corner.
We can't wait to share more details with you as we get them. Stay tuned. Until then, thank you again for your support. It means the world to us. Oh, and have a happy Halloween!
